History

McNamara’s is celebrating its 65th birthday. This building has seen every type of celebration imaginable. In its early days it held Democratic Club meetings, political fundraisers, including annual chicken barbecues, and weekly teenage record hops. The proprietor celebrated her own wedding here in 1958. It has been used for innumerable weddings of every religion and culture, and recently couples have returned to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversaries in the same building. There have been birthday parties in every age group from babies to ninety years old. It has hosted Knights of Columbus, Kiwanis, Moose, Knights of St. John, fire department banquets and served as temporary Catholic Church (due to church burning down) and as a synagogue. We have done numerous repasses and memorial services.
